CHRONOLOGY

The Bridge portrays a significant moment in Australian history, a time of acute political and economic instability in the aftermath of WW1 and the 1929 Great Depression. The Sydney Harbour Bridge remains a masterpiece of design and technical innovation. Its construction showed that Australia had transcended its origins - those of uncertain penal colony on the shores of Sydney Cove - and that the dynamic young nation truly belonged in the modern age.
