Constructing Australia

Pipe Dreams is an epic 'nuts and bolts' engineering tale. The pipeline scheme called for a storage reservoir in the Darling Ranges, and a pipeline with thirty-inch diameter steel pipes to carry the water. Eight pumping stations would each lift the water about 225 feet, and together they would push the water over 329 miles to Kalgoorlie. O'Connor calculated that the pipe would deliver five million gallons of water each day.
